We only have one word for Chris Lang and that is awesome. Words cannot explain how impressed we are with his work. His highlight reel was just so good and captured the day so well. We are all about family and you can tell from his photographs he figured this out. Our daughter and son-in-law told us he made them feel so comfortable and just let them be themselves during their photo session. What we feel is most impressive are the special moments he captured. Lifestyle Wedding Photography may be a bit difficult to define as there is not a industry standard definition. In fact, I do not know of anyone that refers to a wedding photography style to as “Lifestyle Wedding Photography” in itself. I do and here is why. I am a multiple-style photographer. I do not tend to stay in one style of photography but rather photograph several different styles at the same time. For me, lifestyle wedding photography is an attitude, a flexibility, a way to create individual styles that reflect the personalities of my clients. Therefore, it is fluid, free flowing and not bound by any “one” look. That’s why you will see a blend of styles on my website. A lot of photographers refer to themselves as natural light photographers So what is natural light photography? Natural light in photography is any source of light that is created by the sun. Natural light is the most basic form of light there is. The quality and amount of light present depends on different variables, most notably the weather and the time of day. Light & Airy Photography Style
Light and airy photos are created by using low contrast and flat lighting to soften and minimize shadows. This is done in both camera and post production. This can create softer and often more flattering wedding, bridal and engagement photography portraits as fewer shadows also reveal fewer blemishes. Colors in light and airy photos typically fall on the lighter and more neutral side.

Bold & colorful photography is a more saturated look and generally brighter with robust contrast for boldness. The idea of bold and colorful is to create photos that pop, or stand out by enhancing the main attributes of the scene in the picture. Cinematic photography is a style that is created with rich, warm, deep colors and shadows. This style of photography often has a dramatic, mysterious, or powerful feeling. There is so much more than adjusting a few settings in camera that go into making your pictures... Much of what you see on my website is finished in post production. For example, I will photograph certain scenes with different cameras and technique to give me what I need in post production to create what I was thinking on scene. I create in-camera for specific picture styles that need to be created in the post process.
For me, handing my pictures over to someone else for post production just does not feel right. I can not expect another person to finish what I saw, felt and intended to create on scene. Especially when I photograph for creative style such as black and white where I might keying in on a small detail or shadow that needs to be enhanced a certain way in the post production process. They would not have the same attachment, responsibility, or intrinsic value that I have when creating something that I started..read more….

One of the most amazing wedding venues on the North Carolina coastline is Airlie Gardens. Just 5 minutes from Wrightsville Beach you would never think you were so close when walking in these lush gardens filled with majestic oaks.
Christina wanted her bridal portrait made at River Landing so any time I can shoot there without a wedding schedule attached I’m in. Any wedding photographer will tell you wedding days fly by and much of the day is run and gun. Having an hour or two to take our creative time with a bride alone and no wedding day schedule attached makes bridal one of my favorite sessions. I think every bride should have a bridal session because it allows me to document and create with different types of light that I would not normally get on a wedding day. One of those rainy days and had Ray came through at Belle Vue last minute to open up his event venue for us to photograph Emily's bridal portraits. Belle Vue is a charming event space in the Historic Wilmington Downtown. Courtney looked amazing in her dress. We had the perfect backdrop of River Landing to create her bridal portfolio. As with any session, you can try your best to plan around great light and weather but ultimately you are at the whim of nature. Our session was under very dark storm clouds. One of the great things about shooting and creating different photography styles, is that you don't have to be pin-holed into any one style. The thing is I like so many styles, that it is often hard for even me to choose a favorite version of a single picture. There are so many factors that go into creating. From the light to the texture, to the colors, to the style, and most important, the personality of the people you are photographing. With every bridal session, I give my brides a variation of styles even producing different versions some of the same picture. One thing is for sure... no two bridal sessions are the same. Photographing Bridals on a cloudy or off & on rainy day. How to deal with the flats (flat light).
The first set in this series I created a softer pastel style to work with the light that we had for the day. It was cloudy with darker grey clouds that produces a very flat light. While you can never predict what kind of light you will have on a session, or a wedding day, you always have to be creative and flexible with what you have. I think you can get amazing pictures regardless of light, but it will for sure impact some style and color. Since the light was flat, I created a flat style to bring out the light. I also want to bring a better balance and warmth to offset the grey's with a few different techniques of color cross processing. Below is a picture with a flat process and the natural color that we were working with.
