Natural Light Wedding Photography
The beauty of daylight
Daylight, often referred to as natural light for photography purposes, is where a lot of wedding photography takes place, especially with outdoor wedding venues. While there are many challenges in photographing in natural light such as shadows, backlight and direct light, there is no mistaking the beauty the sun creates. In all its splendor, the sun, “natural light,” is the reason we have any light. Natural light can be different in a moments pass. With a blow of a cloud, to a stormy day, light can be hard or it can be flat. These variables along with many others all play a role in the creation of pictures and their style from colors to shadows and the use of them in creating wedding pictures.
While shooting in natural light tends to be the most forgiving for making pictures, it still takes a creative eye and an understanding of light and equipment to create different styles. For wedding photography, natural light tends to be more desired in the overall portfolio and this is inclusive of sunset. Look at any major wedding publication or blog and you will find most all of what is displayed is in a natural light setting.
